Cumberland River Festival Continuing As Scheduled, Rain Effects Minimal

Wednesday’s significant rainfall has not affected the schedule of Jackson County’s Cumberland River Festival.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Hope Vargas said doors still opened at 1:00 p.m. for the two-day event starting Friday.

“Definitely mud can be a factor,” Vargas said. “Thankfully though, the airport is on level ground, and it is spread out enough to not affect us too much. We were able to make a few changes to the layout to keep people out of the grass as much as possible.”

Vargas said the site was busy Thursday with the stage and seating being put in place. Vargas said if weather cooperates, the Jackson County Airport should be dry by Friday.

“No changes really,” Vargas said. “We do want everyone to know chairs are provided. There will be food trucks on site for the dinner break each night. If you haven’t already got your ticket, head over to cumberlandriverfestival.org.”

Vargas said people sitting in seats 11-22 in any row will likely have some dampness from the grass.
