Cumberland House Hospice Auxillary Hosting Fundraising Sale With Cancellation Of Other Fundraisers

One local charity is asking for a big turnout for their final event of the year following two years of major fundraiser cancellations.

Cumberland House of Hospice Auxillary Volunteer Sherry Koch said that their Masquerade Jewelry Sale Wednesday at Fairfield Glade will feature high-quality goods for $5 each, ranging from jewelry to scarves to closet organizers.

“Because of the pandemic we’ve had to cancel all of our major fundraising events because they would involve a lot of people and we don’t want to have big gatherings,” Koch said. “So we’re going to do one more small sale and hopefully make it a big sale.”

Koch said that every $1 of the $5 sale will go back to the Hospice of Cumberland Organization, which provides an enhanced quality of life for those facing terminal illness.

“Also addressed are the emotional, spiritual, and informational needs of loved ones facing that loss,” Koch said. “We’ve been in existence for over 30 years, and Cumberland House is a special place. It’s our six-bed residential community hospice facility and only one of three in Tennessee completely. Cumberland House welcomes all families, regardless of ability to pay, and specializes in pain management and symptom control.”

Koch said that the other $4 goes back to Masquerade Fundraising, a company that puts on sales to benefit hospitals and like organizations. She said that because the group hasn’t had a sale in a hospital since 2019, it wanted to partner up with Hospice of Cumberland to continue its work.

Koch said the Masquerade Jewelry Sale this Wednesday at the Fairfield Glade Center from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
