Two new Cumberland County electric charging stations will be built to help fill gaps along Tennessee’s Interstate system.
One will be located at the Pilot Service Center at Genesis Road, Crossville. The second will be located at Exit 329. Those two centers will join a Sam’s Club location in Cookeville to serve the Upper Cumberland.
Some $21 million in federal funds will be used to construct 31 fast-charging facilities across the state.
“Tennessee has been home to the automotive industry since the 1980s and those automakers are growing electric vehicle manufacturing.” T-DOT Commissioner Butch Eley said. “With these federal dollars, Tennessee is investing in its future and paving the way to lead the nation as an EV epicenter. We want to ensure that drivers in any vehicle can safely get across the state from Mountain City to Memphis.”
The national plan promises a network of 500,000 publicly available EV chargers by 2030.
