Cumberland EMA Seeking Flood Damage Reports

Crossville-Cumberland County EMA officials are asking residents with flood damage to report it to the agency.

Administrative Assistant Travis Cole said living areas damaged by flood waters over the weekend can be reported.

“Any kind of water damage caused by the rains needs to be reported,” Cole said. “Then we’ll turn everything in and we’ll try to get financial aid with the reports. It has to meet a certain threshold before we get the financial aid, but every report that relates to the rain helps.”

Reports must include damage to areas like living rooms or bedrooms and excludes structures like garages.

Cole said if approved for funding, the money would go towards helping families affected by flood damage. However, the agency encourages residents to report damage as soon as possible.

“The quicker we get everything in hand, the faster this process moves,” Cole said. “It is somewhat of a time-consuming process, so the faster we get all the reports and paperwork and everything turned in, we can submit it to find out if we’re going to get any of the help.”

Cumberland County residents looking to report flood damage to EMA officials can call their office at 931-484-7016.

White County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson announced Monday that he would be seeking federal funding through FEMA as well. He asks residents to document all purchases pertaining to damage repairs but notes that funding is not guaranteed.
