The Cumberland County Budget Committee has approved paying an additional $5,000 to purchase land under the Art Circle Library.
Earlier this year Norfolk Southern Railroad notified the county that the library sits on railroad property that existed some 20-years. Norfolk had originally asked the county to pay $40,000 for the property, but a few months later that price went up to $45,000 and Norfolk has threatened to take the matter to court.
The county commission must approve the resolution during its next monthly meeting.
