A Cumberland County man faces charges after assaulting a pregnant woman in Crab Orchard.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office arrested 46-year-old Michael Andrew Hamby on one count each of domestic and aggravated assault following an incident Saturday.
The victim told deputies Hamby accused her of cheating on him before grabbing her by the throat and choking her. Humby then struck the victim in the face and kicked her stomach before shoving a second woman and leaving the area.
When Cumberland County deputies arrived at the home, they found the victim and two other women on the porch. The victim was transported to the hospital where a deputy noticed she had a swollen right eye, red mark to her throat, and was told she was bleeding from the kick to her stomach. The other woman who was shoved by Hamby had a red mark on her arm from the altercation.
Authorities located Hamby near Vanity Fair the next day in a vehicle that matched a description given by the victim. Hamby was then taken into custody for domestic and aggravated assault as well as two counts of violating bond conditions.
Hamby was booked on $10,000 bond and has since been released. He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 15.
