Area business, government and education leaders joined with the Crossville Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce to hear the results of the county’s labor study.
Younger Associates’ analysis showed Cumberland County imports and exports workers from a 10-county area called the “labor shed.”
Chamber CEO Brad Allamong said the information will be very helpful.
“Some things we knew and some things we didn’t know … fromm an industrial development standpoint, the one thing that’s very valuable immediately is the labor shed, what does that look like, the number of people coming into our community and going to serve other communities,” Allamong said.
The analysis included recommendations on which industries the county should pursue to bring in new business and how to entice new residents.
Sharon Younger said her firm would be there to assist.
“Next we’ve got some work to do, this was built into the project from the very beginning, we’re not going to stop once we’ve delivered the report, but as your consultant, we’re going to remain engaged for a period of time to make sure the recommendations get off and running,” she said.
Younger Associates staff worked on the project for the last few months. Cumberland County requested a fast-track process.
