Cumberland County Fair To Kick Off Next Week With New Additions

Cumberland County Fair to feature many new rides, events, and vendors next week with new carnival partner James Gang Amusements.

Director Julie Thompson said their change in partnership came after the committee received several complaints from fairgoers last year. She said she is very excited about the new partnership and proud of what they have been able to accomplish already with their new additions.

“Regardless of what your interest is, what you’re looking for–whether it’s just coming for the food, whether it’s for what we have to offer in the arena–we have something for everybody, every family, and every age,” Thompson said. “We’d just love to see you come out to the Cumberland County Fair.”

Thompson said James Gang Amusements has been tremendously helpful during the entirety of the planning process, supplying plenty of ideas and planning concepts for them to go off of. She said that there are many events that people have been wanting to see, and with the new group’s help, they will be able to provide them now.

“We’re offering a great many more live shows–we have four on the floor just on Monday night,” Thompson said. “And people were asking for more motorsport-type events in our arena, and that’s what we’ve been able to offer them.”

Thompson said contacting carnival groups was the planning committee’s first course of action over the last year, before setting to work on logistics planning in monthly meetings. She said the entire process has been very smooth this time around, with everything set in place for a successful opening next week.

Thompson said the fair will officially open on Monday and admission starts as low as five dollars. She said she and the committee want to see as many people there as possible and for them to have a good time.
