New Cookie Franchise Opens In Cookeville; Focused On Growth Markets

What’s your favorite cookie? You have the chance to discover it as Crumbl Cookie opens a new Cookeville location.

The franchise chain is known for its large, unique cookies. Expect such cookie varieties as S’mores, cinnamon pop-tart, cookies and cream milkshake, and more. Franchise Partner David Berry said everybody has a favorite.

“My personal favorites is the pumpkin chocolate chip, and I’m not a pumpkin person,” Berry said. “The pumpkin is a very light textured cookie, almost like a muffin, and I can eat the whole thing and not feel so bad because the cookies are big.”

Berry and his wife have opened three Crumbl Cookie stores throughout Middle Tennessee. Berry said the Cookeville location is the first time he has been fully invested in an opening, however.

“My wife was mostly in charge of the previous two,” Berry said. “And I still had another job. I would come in the evenings and help when I got off work, so I was there, but this is the first one I’ve been here throughout the day and evening. I’m pretty excited about how its gone. I hope I can do better than my wife honestly, but probably not. She’s fantastic.”

Berry said he selected Cookeville as the location of the store because of a variety of different reasons.

“We were looking at demographics, it’s a college town, location to the interstate, and we just love the location,” Berry said. “In my previous job I did some work in the area and I really liked the area. My kids play soccer here a lot. We just thought it would be a great spot for another Crumbl.”

The store opened its doors at 8:00 a.m. Friday. Berry said he is excited but also nervous for the opening.

“I think grand openings are always tough because you just never know what to expect with people coming in, how busy its going to be, your staff is just learning, and everybody is still kind of slow and questioning what they are doing, but we got them all trained,” Berry said. “I think they are going to do really well and knock it out of the park.”

Berry said Crumbl Cookie has a weekly rotating menu. The only permanent fixture is it always has some kind of chocolate-chip cookie.
