Crossville To Conduct Special Census

The City of Crossville will be conducting a special census this fall and winter.

Crossville officials believe as many as 800 residents have moved into the city since the 2014 census.

Vice Mayor J.H. Graham said that could mean more money for the city since state-shared revenues are based off population.

“Our current state-shared tax numbers is $126 per head,” Graham said. “If there are 800 people that would be somewhere around $90,000 to $100,000 a year in income for the general fund over the next five years.”

Officials said state-shared revenues amount for 7-percent of the city’s budget.

Crossville residents will begin receiving information about the special census prior to the holidays
