Crossville Police arrested a sex offender last week after locating him near a playground.
Officers charged James Lee Quarry with violating the sex offender registry.
Authorities made contact with Quarry after responding to Obed River Park for a domestic disturbance. Officers found the defendant inside a truck parked near the playground.
A police report said officers arrested the 47-year-old Quarry due to the likelihood that persons under the age of 18-years-old would be present in the area.
Quarry had to register as a sex offender following his 1993 conviction for rape. The state’s sex offender registry database classifies Quarry as violent against children.
