The City of Crossville will look for experience in its indoor aquatics facility architect interview on Tuesday.
City Manager Greg Wood said the key is to have an experienced pool consultant for construction.
“You have to make sure that it’s well-constructed, it’s well-ventilated, and have the right materials otherwise you run into corrosion problems and things like that,” Wood said. “I’ve even had situations where the pool gets contaminated ”
Wood said that he also would ideally hire someone with local knowledge. He said that sitting on the plateau means sitting on top of a rock, so someone who understands the nature of the geology in Crossville is important.
Wood said that they value the ability to get the most out of each square foot. He said that the city understands that having the most programs as possible will ensure taxpayers are getting the most bang for their buck.
“You know Cookeville has some amenities that help keep people there,” Wood said. “And we want to make sure that somebody, if they go to college or goes to MoTech or gets a job otherwise here has something that can make sure we keep those folks here, especially professionals. We have some folks come in for some major corporate things and it’s not the corporate offices it’s their families that say, ‘Well what is there for us to do?’ So we want to make sure we facilitate that.”
