The Crossville Police Department has launched a fraud investigation into a Facebook page claiming to be the city’s codes department.
A police report states an individual created the account Wednesday announcing Aldi’s would soon locate to the city.
However, city officials said the announcement was false and the codes department did not have its own Facebook page.
The report states the Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce had no information pertaining to Aldi’s and are not actively recruiting businesses at this time.
The page, which has since been deleted, used the official City of Crossville seal as a profile picture. According to the police report, the investigation remains ongoing.
