Crossville Pair Nabbed on Multiple Charges After Stolen-Vehicle Recovery

Friday morning, Cumberland County deputies stopped a silver Kia Forte on Highway 70 East. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that morning. The driver, 37-year-old Bobby Lynn Norris, and a passenger, 22-year-old Taylor Danielle Davis, both of Crossville, were placed under arrest.

According to the arrest report, Norris claimed no knowledge of the vehicle’s having been stolen, saying he borrowed it from a male acquaintance. Norris had two used syringes and a bottle in his pants pocket. Deputies say he admitted having used meth the previous day.

The reporting officer said Davis appeared to have a bulge in the front of her pants the approximate size and shape of a syringe. She repeatedly denied possessing any illegal narcotics or drug paraphernalia, even after deputies advised her she would be subject to a strip search at intake – which could result in additional charges being lodged against her.

The owner was subsequently called to recover his vehicle. Meanwhile, a search of the stolen vehicle turned up two sets of digital scales. Norris denied they were his.

At the Cumberland County jail, Davis reportedly attempted to eat a baggie she removed from her crotch area; deputies had to tase her to retrieve the baggie. They recovered another baggie and a syringe from Davis’ crotch area and third baggie from inside her bra. A total of 10.13 grams of meth was seized from Davis.

Norris was charged with theft and misdemeanor charges of driving on a revoked or suspended license, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of a Schedule II drug and a child-support violation. He was placed under $14,053 bond and has an October 29 court appearance.

Davis was charged with theft, as well as manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of meth, tampering with evidence, possession of contraband in a penal institution and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was placed under $31,000 bond. Her court appearance is also set for October 29.
