The Crossville Model Railroad Club celebrates its 20th anniversary this weekend.
President Patrick Taylor said the club began with just six people at the Crossville Depot. Taylor said members started by restoring the caboose and displaying model railroads inside.
“Besides providing a family friendly environment, we have a museum that has a lot of railroad memorabilia, and we have people that have over 70 years of experience in model railroading.”
Membership has grown as large as 65 individuals over the years. Taylor said the group will be commemorating its success by bringing in an exhibit from Dayton, Ohio that is 45 by 96 feet large.
“They’re going to fill up the Cumberland County Community Center with this giant railroad display, and we’re going to have vendors selling different railroad memorabilia and parts,” Taylor said.
Taylor said the expo will be on display for free Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Taylor said when the club is not celebrating an milestone, the museum is open Tuesday-Sunday displaying five different scales of model railroads.
