Crossville City Council may have found its next city manager.
“And that’s Ms. Valerie Hale,” Crossville Mayor RJ Crawford during a Tuesday night work session. “So next steps is we got to figure out how we want to do this. My thought process is we’ve got pretty evident case here to support that. We know who council wants. My thoughts and you all give me your thoughts. I don’t think we need to go any further. I think we need to consider putting that on the agenda and have a vote.”
Crawford said a preliminary ranking of candidates by council members showed Hale as the top candidate for four council members and in the top two candidates among the other council members.
“So no one else is even close,” Crawford said.
Crawford said he did not want to waste any more time for the other candidates interested in replacing Greg Wood, who announced his plans to retire last year.
The council discussed a possible vote at next week’s meeting on Hale, who currently serves as City Clerk. Start date could potentially be April 1.
Crawford said he would talk to Hale about the position further as well as potential contract terms. Staff has been working with the city attorney on potential contracts.
