Crossville’s Northside Drive/State Route 462 connector project awaiting funding, with plans complete and right-of-ways purchased.
Regional Communications Officer Rae Anne Bradley said the next step is T-DOT’s annual selections for its Statewide Partnership Program. Bradley said Crossville applied last year.
“There have been several changes to regulatory requirements since the plans were ready for construction,” Bradley said. “So there will likely be some time where T-DOT will have to go back and update some things including but not limited to environmental surveys and design plans.”
Bradley said the new regulatory requirements have come about in recent months from the Department of Environment and Conservation and the Army Corps of Engineers.
Bradley said being chosen for the statewide program is the most likely way for the project to move forward. The department’s website said its updated ten-year plan with new projects like this one will be released at some point this spring.
“Submissions gathered are not always guaranteed to receive funding,” Bradley said. “But all information provided to us is essential in the development of future tenure plans and for T-DOT to better understand the outstanding critical transportation funding needs here in Tennessee.”
Bradley said the project’s designated fiscal year for construction funding would account for the estimated one-year environmental permitting timeline.
