Crossville City Manager Rescinds Resignation Letter

Crossville City Manager Greg Wood has rescinded his letter of resignation opening the door for the City Council to keep him or fire him.

That according to Mayor James Mayberry, who said the council is still awaiting the final results of an outside investigation. The issue: the search and brief closure of the Village Inn and allegations of a orchestrated plan to close the hotel.

Mayberry said Wood’s decision adds more confusion to the issue and puts the decision in the hands of the council

“Right now he is suspended until the investigation is completed,” Mayberry said. “So he either goes back to work after that or he will be terminated depending on how the council votes once we get all of the results in.”

Mayberry said they expect the investigation to be finished by the end of the week. The council already had a special-called meeting Friday to hire a new attorney. Mayberry said the issue could be discussed then.
