Crossville And Owner Set To Close On Village Inn Property Tuesday

Crossville set to officially close on its purchase of the Village Inn next Tuesday.

The consensus among city council members at a Tuesday night work session, the building should be razed and the property redeveloped. City Manager Greg Wood said he had requested several developers look at the building and each called it unsafe.

“It’s not safe,  it’s not something I think we can reinvest or give to someone else, a church or something to redo,” Mayor  RJ Crawford said. “It’s worn out.”

Wood said the experts said renovations would not be cost-effective.

The city approved the purchase of the low-income housing property with a $450,000 price tag with $20,000 in earnest money in December. The former hotel was temporarily shut down last July due to code infractions.
