CRMC Introduces New Orthopedic Robotic Surgery System

Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) has added the Upper Cumberland’s first robotic orthopedic surgery system.

CRMC released a statement Wednesday saying the new NAVIO technology does not require a pre-operative CT-scan for total knee replacement surgeries.

The technology allows the surgeon to construct a 3D model of the patient’s knee, providing patient-specific information and higher accuracy during surgery.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Greg Roberts said in the release the new procedure allows surgeons to see details in real time, leading to better alignment, improved balance, and longer-lasting implants.

CEO Paul Korth writes the new NAVIO robotic system at CRMC is only one of two in the entire state.
