Cookeville Regional Medical Center has changed its visitor policy Wednesday allowing one visitor per emergency room patient.
Each patient can designate one visitor throughout their stay at the hospital. That visitor will be the point of contact for all other family members for information about the patient.
“We appreciate our community’s understanding and patience regarding the medical center’s visitor restrictions,” CEO Paul Korth said “We know that the restricted visitation policy has been hard on patients and families and are glad that we can now be somewhat more flexible with our visitor policy; however, we still must remain vigilant to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
An Emergency Room visitor transporting a patient to triage will be screened by the triage nurse. An ER visitor coming after the patient is in the room will need to enter through the East Entrance.
Visiting hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with overnight stays only allowed for special cases approved by a physician. ER patients coming for COVID symptoms will not be allowed a visitor.
“We are doing everything we possibly can within the medical center to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Korth said. “And, ask our limited visitors to help us by following the guidelines we have in place during their visits.”
All other visitors must enter through the North Tower or East entrances. All visitors are required to wear masks and follow hospital COVID guidelines. People under the age of 16 can not visit a patient.
