A 44-year-old man will spend 20 years behind bars for the fatal 2015 stabbing of a 28-year-old woman in DeKalb County.
Anthony Tyrone Crews entered a plea under a negotiated settlement Wednesday to Second-degree murder in the death of Ashley Bain.
Baine’s body was found with multiple stab wounds at a home on DeKalb County’s Cookeville Highway.
Crews was originally indicted on a count of first-degree murder. Had he been convicted on that charge, he could have received a life sentence with or without the possibility of parole.
Family members of Bain were reportedly upset with the conviction, but prosecutors said proving first-degree murder would have been a legal challenge.
