COVID Relief Available For UC Childcare Providers

$15 million in grant relief is available to licensed childcare programs across Tennessee.

Marketing Coordinator for Childcare Tennessee Whit Gardner said this aid is to support business operations and cover costs related to the COVID pandemic. Gardner said that Upper Cumberland childcare providers need to check their email for information on how to participate.

“You have increased salaries because you had to hire more staff to keep things small,” Gardner said. “If your insurance went up, if you need help covering your rent. If you had to buy extra personal protective equipment to stay open.”

Gardner said the email will have been sent by Childcare Tennessee, who is partnering with DHS on the Childcare COVID Relief grant program. Gardner said the grant period opened in April and emails will be going out over the next four weeks.

“If they get the email then they’re eligible to apply,” Gardner said.

Gardner said the email will contain all the necessary first steps to get the ball rolling in the application process. Anyone who has any follow up questions or wants more information on this grant can contact Childcare Tennessee at (615)-321-4939.
