Wartburg – Healthy Hike: Lilly Bluff Area Trails At The Obed Wild And Scenic River will be on Friday, October 11th starting at 11am. Ranger Rick Ryan will lead a moderate 2.5 mile hike that will give participants the chance to enjoy the unique geology and ecosystem of the Clear Creek gorge. Participants should meet at the Lilly Overlook parking area. The parking area is located just after crossing the Lilly Bridge on Ridge Road in Morgan County, Tennessee. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes or boots and bring water and snacks. Hikers are also welcome to bring well-behaved dogs on a leash. A total of 30 young hunters will be selected to participate. A Friday night cookout will be held. Sites will be available for those who wish to camp (participants must provide their own camping gear). Breakfast and lunch will also be provided Saturday.  TWRA will hold a drawing and the winners will be notified by Oct. 18. Interested hunters may complete an application and mail it to the following address: Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Youth Deer Hunt Giveaway, 5107 Edmondson Pike, Nashville, TN 37211. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Announces The Availability Of Grant Dollars

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Announces The Availability Of Grant Dollars to assist cities, schools, community organizations, civic groups, watershed organizations, and conservation groups, etc., with riparian tree planting projects. All seedlings must be purchased through the Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry. The funds will be obligated as grants, so the grantee must have a nonprofit tax number. The projects are to be completed, the money spent, and a report submitted by June 30, 2020. In order to meet this deadline, TWRA will accept proposals through Monday, Dec. 1, 2019. For additional information, interested persons may also contact a regional Aquatic Habitat Protection biologist.

Waverly – Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Muzzleloader Workshop Hosted By The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will be held on Nov 8-10th at Buffalo Ridge Refuge. Female hunters 18 and older will have the opportunity to learn about hunting deer during the weekend. Registration for the workshop is on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, two weeks priority will be given to first-time participants. The cost of the workshop is $250, which includes meals and camping, if participants wish to camp. Campers must provide their own gear. A list of local hotels will be included with the registration packet. Workshop participants are required to have the appropriate licenses.
