Rock Island – Haunted Trail Presented By The Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department every Friday and Saturday in October from dark (around 7pm) till 11pm at Millers Farm in Bone Cave Tennessee. Come out for an evening of spooky family fun if you dare!! This is a 1 mile walk of horror through the haunted woods of Bone Cave Mountain that includes 250 Mine Shaft, Clown Town, Meat Dept, Scarecrow Village, Graveyard, and Vortex Tunnel. This fundraiser will benefit the Cedar Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Admission is $8 per person and kids under 5 are free. Cash only please. 2019 Free Youth Deer Hunt Registration

2019 Free youth deer hunt registration is underway to win the chance to record first harvest. Youth between the ages of 10-16, who are hunter safety certified and who have never harvested a deer, are eligible to win a spot. The TWRA will host the hunt in conjunction with the opening day of the 2019 Tennessee Young Sportsman Deer Hunt on Saturday, Oct. 26. A total of 30 young hunters will be selected to participate. A Friday night cookout will be held. Sites will be available for those who wish to camp (participants must provide their own camping gear). Breakfast and lunch will also be provided Saturday.  TWRA will hold a drawing and the winners will be notified by Oct. 18. Interested hunters may complete an application and mail it to the following address: Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Youth Deer Hunt Giveaway, 5107 Edmondson Pike, Nashville, TN 37211. Due to the extremely dry conditions currently being experienced, park officials have determined that it is necessary to restrict the use of open fires and activities, which unduly increase the fire danger. The term “open fires” refers to any flame source not immediately extinguishable or controllable and applies to any form of wood or charcoal-based fire. Backcountry: No building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, or cooking fire within the backcountry. Within the backcountry, portable stoves that use pressurized gas, liquid fuel, propane, or alcohol are permitted. Designated Campgrounds: Campfires and cooking fires may still be used in the designated campground and picnic areas in developed portions of the park within established fire containers or rings and in accordance with park regulations.

However, two weeks priority will be given to first-time participants. The cost of the workshop is $250, which includes meals and camping, if participants wish to camp. Ranger Rick Ryan will lead a moderate 2.5 mile hike that will give participants the chance to enjoy the unique geology and ecosystem of the Clear Creek gorge. Participants should meet at the Lilly Overlook parking area. The parking area is located just after crossing the Lilly Bridge on Ridge Road in Morgan County, Tennessee. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes or boots and bring water and snacks. Hikers are also welcome to bring well-behaved dogs on a leash. Participants will immerse themselves in the many scenic vistas and various sights of flora and fauna that surround the Obed Wild & Scenic River, all the while writing, drawing, and even painting their thoughts and observations in their own personal journal. This is a 1 mile walk of horror through the haunted woods of Bone Cave Mountain that includes 250 Mine Shaft, Clown Town, Meat Dept, Scarecrow Village, Graveyard, and Vortex Tunnel.
