Crossville – “Taco Tuesday” Bicycle Riding Club Every Tuesday meet at the Cumberland County Bank parking lot from 6:00pm-7:00pm. To promote bicycle riding, there’s a group called “Taco Tuesday”. The group meets every Tuesday weather permitting and ride for roughly an hour. Afterwards the group meets for dinner (Dutch Treat) at the Casa Grande Restaurant located on the Miller Avenue Bypass. The riders consist of mixed skill set, from beginners to advanced riders, young (age 11) and old (age 66) male and female. The Crossville Police Department is proud to offer this “Ladies ONLY” handgun familiarization course. This course, designed and instructed by R&R Gun School, will be an introduction in the safe handling, operation, cleaning and storage of handguns. It will be presented in a closed session, for the privacy and comfort of those in attendance. The class is an informal introduction to handguns, for ladies, who often feel uncomfortable attending many other firearms classes. The class will be limited to 40 students, on a first come-first served basis. Saturday’s History Hike will be an opportunity to spy some outdoor art. “I Spy a WestSide Mural,” a free, self-guided activity is for all ages. “It’s going to be super fun,” Ashley McKee, museums education specialist, said. “We came up with it to coincide with our current Cookeville History Museum exhibit, ‘I Spy Cookeville.’” The Historic WestSide Cultural District is home to eight murals, all within walking distance of both museums. Participants are also encouraged to explore the Cookeville History Museum’s “I Spy Cookeville” exhibit, which continues through Aug. 24, featuring picture riddles and other interactive activities for all ages. Admission is free. History Hikes continue on the second Saturday of each month through October. Bill Landry, of WBIR TV’s Heartland Series for nearly 3 decades, will be at the Fentress County Courthouse, July 18, 5 & 6:30pm, to tell stories from the Smoky Mountains, East Tennessee, and the Upper Cumberland, as well as from his most recent book, When the West Was Tennessee. He will also autograph this and some of his other books, including Appalachian Tales and Heartland Adventures.
