UCAAAD Offers SNAP Assistance

Upper Cumberland Area Agency on Aging and Disability (UCAAAD) is now offering application assistance with SNAP, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, for adults 60 and over or individuals with a disability to provide eligible individuals with monthly benefits to buy food. Applicants 60 and over or an individual with a disability can now call the UCAAAD SNAP Benefits Coordinator at (931) 432-4111 for free and confidential application assistance.

Be a part of the first annual Hogs for Dogs Poker Run benefiting the DeKalb Animal Shelter!
We will be playing 5 card poker. The Poker Run will begin and end at Twisted Oaks Bar & Grill in Smithville, TN (where you will receive your first and last card) with stops along the way.
The advance ticket price (until September 20th) is $20 for each rider or passenger. This includes one poker hand, T-shirt, and BBQ after the event. Tickets can also be purchased the day of the ride for $20, but will not include a T-shirt.
All proceeds benefit animals through the Friends of DeKalb Animal Shelter.

The Upper Cumberland Development District’s Tennessee Small Business Development Center, in partnership with Tennessee Tech University, provides free resources for local small businesses and entrepreneurs.
While COVID-19 might have motivated the new campaign, TSBDC has a long history of supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs across the state. In the more than 30 years of its existence, TSBDC has assisted hundreds of thousands of Tennessee businesses, from manufacturers, to retailers, to service providers, and entrepreneurs who have a business idea. The Upper Cumberland Development District’s TSBDC Center provides myriad services for entrepreneurs to take advantage of free confidential counseling as well as training seminars, both public and private, on many business-related topics.
