Upper Cumberland Area Agency on Aging and Disability (UCAAAD) is now offering application assistance with SNAP, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, for adults 60 and over or individuals with a disability to provide eligible individuals with monthly benefits to buy food. Applicants 60 and over or an individual with a disability can now call the UCAAAD SNAP Benefits Coordinator at (931) 432-4111 for free and confidential application assistance.

Cookeville – “Wrestle: Free Screening Presented By WCTE May 14th at the TTU Backdoor Playhouse. WCTE Upper Cumberland PBS will host a free screening of the Independent Lens Documentary of Wrestle . Doors open at 5:30 and the screening to begin at 6:00.
Wrestle is an intimate, inspiring portrait of the wrestling team at Huntsville’s J.O. Johnson High School, which has been on Alabama’s failing schools list for many years.
As they fight their way towards the State Championship, wrestlers Jailen, Jamario, Teague, and Jaquan each face injustices and challenges on and off the mat, together grappling with obstacles that jeopardize their success while their tough-love coach Chris Scribner. Wrestle premieres on Independent Lens Monday, May 20, on PBS and will also be available simultaneously for online streaming at pbs.org.
Athletic teams, especially wrestling teams, are urged to come and join us for this movie.

The group meets every Tuesday weather permitting and ride for roughly an hour. Afterwards the group meets for dinner (Dutch Treat) at the Casa Grande Restaurant located on the Miller Avenue Bypass. The riders consist of mixed skill set, from beginners to advanced riders, young (age 11) and old (age 66) male and female. Crossville – “Taco Tuesday” Bicycle Riding Club Every Tuesday meet at the Cumberland County Bank parking lot from 6:00pm-7:00pm. To promote bicycle riding, there’s a group called “Taco Tuesday”. The group meets every Tuesday weather permitting and ride for roughly an hour. Afterwards the group meets for dinner (Dutch Treat) at the Casa Grande Restaurant located on the Miller Avenue Bypass. The riders consist of mixed skill set, from beginners to advanced riders, young (age 11) and old (age 66) male and female. The beginners will ride 3-4 miles and the more advanced riders will ride from 14-18 miles. This is FREE to attend, no sign up necessary. For more information call Steven Douglas at 931-200-2741

Big South Fork “Trail Keeper” Program

Big South Fork Trail Keeper Program Needs Volunteers for 2019. The Trail Keeper program is a volunteer partnership for people who love the park’s trails and want to help take care of them. Trail keepers are expected to hike, bike or horse ride their adopted trail at least four times during the calendar year. They also report on overall trail conditions, pick up any trash, and submit a trail report after each visit. Trail Keepers are a valuable asset to the park staff.
