Byrdstown-based Country Farm and Home will be opening its second facility in Overton County later this year.
Construction on the facility has already started off Highway 111 in Rickman.
Country Farm and Home a locally owned, family operated Farm, Home, Building and Garden Center.
Overton County Executive Ben Danner said it’s another addition for a strong local economy.
“Four years ago we had a double digit unemployment rate and right now we are at 3.3-percent, which is one of the lowest rates we have ever had here,” Danner said. “We’ve had Tractor Supply open, this is coming in, and new restaurants are coming. Right now, everything is going pretty good.”
Construction on the new Country Farm And Home expected to be completed by June 1st. Owner John Scott said he plans to hire about 30-35 people at the Rickman location.
“It’s just really took off and grown over the last three years and whenever we first started this venture, our goal was to have multiple stores,” Scott said. “We’ve decided over the last year to go ahead and move forward with that.”
The business formed in 2012 by combining Pickett Farm Supply and Pickett Building Center. The Byrdstown location opened as Country Farm and Home in 2015 off Highway 111 in Byrdstown.
