Council To Consider Sewer Extension For New Lovelady Road Subdivision

The process to extend sewer to the Lovelady Road subdivision could begin if Cookeville City Council approves a construction contract Thursday.

Water Quality Director Designee Barry Turner said that the sewer would extend to the proposed Timberwalk Subdivision. He said that the estimated cost of the extension is some $800,000 split evenly between the city and the developer.

“It’s going to be a low-pressure type sewer system so it’ll be a force main from our Hudgens Creek pump station,” Turner said. “Down Bunker Hill Road and Lovelady Road, and then South Lovelady Road to his development.”

Turner said that city is required to extend sewer along the route by 2027 as part of the annexation’s plan of services. He said that having the developer share the cost of the work is a huge benefit to this process.

Turner said that the additional cost for taps for the existing houses and for installing junction connections at the existing roads for future extensions is estimated at some $100,000, which the city would pay 100 percent. He said that the city’s total cost is some $500,000 plus 50 percent of the cost of easements.
