Council Approves First Reading of Mackie Farm Rezoning

Cookeville City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance rezoning the annexed Mackie Farm during Thursday’s meeting.

Councilman Jim Woodford motioned to exclude a cluster of properties along Salem Road from being rezoned for commercial-industrial use. Woodford’s motion was approved, allowing the properties to remain as single-family residential properties.

The council will still need to approve the ordinance a second time during their next meeting on August 19.

The Cookeville Planning Commission first approved the rezoning in June.
