Cookeville’s Storm Drains Handling The Rain

Despite a heavy morning downpour, Cookeville’s storm drains appear to be doing their job.

City Public Works Director Greg Brown said he hadn’t heard any complaints late Thursday morning.

City workers have been clearing and maintaining storm drains this summer and their efforts appeared to be paying off.

“Well, when you have more rain, heavy rain, more that can be more than what they can handle, but as far as I know we haven’t gotten any reports on them,” Brown said.

Some of Cookeville’s streets, like Willow Avenue, are known for turning into rivers during rainfall.
