Red, White and Boom returns to the Putnam County Fairgrounds for its seventh annual Fourth of July celebrations this weekend.
The weekend will kick off Saturday morning with a classic car show, and have events throughout Saturday and Sunday until the fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Mayor Ricky Shelton said they’re excited to have this year’s show be bigger and better than ever.
“We do always add something,” Shelton said. “Add a segment, a show-within-a-show. We do have some special surprises planned, they’re working on that. It’s going to be an awesome event.”
Shelton said that as one the largest fireworks shows in the southeast, he estimates there could be up to fifty-thousand people in town that evening. Red, White and Boom will have food trucks, live music, and even health pavilion that provides guests with the opportunity donate blood or get a COVID vaccine.
He said the event will host its first major live concert invent with several musical performances from local artists.
“We have different genres of music throughout the night,” Shelton said. “”
Shelton said the weekend will be one of family-fun, fellowship, and patriotism.
“It’s the bringing of people together and celebrating the freedom of our country,” Shelton said. “And that is so, so important in this time. We’re glad that we’re able to have this event, and we invite you to come out early.”
Gates open at the fairgrounds at 3:30 for Sunday nights events, and Shelton said people are welcome to bring their chairs, sit out, and enjoy their evenings. Parking will be available on site, and Shelton said there is also plenty of parking in the surrounding area.
