Cookeville’s Hawg Barn Damaged In Monday Morning Fire

Cookeville’s Hawg Barn was damaged in a fire Monday morning.

Cookeville Fire Chief Benton Young said that the station got the call around 5 a.m. and crews were on the scene within four minutes. When they arrived, Young said there was heavy smoke coming from the whole roof of the structure.

“We had crews go in and make an interior attack and they got it under control in a rapid amount of time,” Young said. “We were on the scene until about 7:30 when we finished the actual extinguishing operations.”

Young said firefighters and investigators are still on the scene as of 11:15 Monday morning to find the cause of the fire. He said that the structure is still standing but heavy fire and smoke damage on the inside of the structure has left it essentially gutted.

Young said that the building was empty and that there were no injuries.
