Cookeville’s Third Thursday Concerts return this week at Dogwood Park.
The Cookeville based band Kinfolk will kick off this summer with covers of classic hits and original songs. Cookeville Cultural Arts Superintendent Chad McDonald said he is excited to finally get live music in Dogwood Park, again.
“Attending events in Dogwood Park is really nice,” McDonald said. “It is nice to just sit out in the grass in the evening and hear some great music especially in the summer.”
McDonald said social distancing during the concert at the park will not change what people are used to. The only difference are circles drawn six feet apart in the grass where families are allowed to sit.
“Beyond that, there should not be that much difference there,” McDonald said. “The bathrooms will be opened. The concessions will be opened. We will have hand sanitizer and soap in the bathrooms. As long as people take precautions and socially distance, we should be great.”
Cookeville Leisure Services cancelled May’s Third Thursday Concert, but rescheduled the performance for August. McDonald said they have not lost any performers due to cancellation.
Third Thursday Concerts are free and happen every third Thursday at 7:30 at the Dogwood Park Performance Pavilion.
