The Brown Bag Lunch Concert series returns to Cookeville’s Depot Museum Friday afternoon, featuring country pop artist Ainsley Costello.
Cultural Arts Superintendent Chad McDonald said the series started some 20 years ago as a way to attract more people to the downtown area during the lunch hour.
“It’s been a very popular series because people like to come over when the weather is nice like to see some free music out on the patio,” McDonald said. “And have a nice lunch, a nice picnic lunch right in the middle of town.”
McDonald said the series got its name from when Leisure Services employees used to make the lunches and sell them in brown paper bags. He said this year, Blue Coast Burrito will sell lunch.
The concert series will run every Friday in October through the 21st from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
