Cookeville’s After Dark Movies in the Park Continues Friday

Cookeville’s After Dark Movies in the Park continues this Friday.

Leisure Services Cultural Arts Superintendent Chad McDonald said the free film for the night at Dogwood Park will be Disney’s Tangled.

“The movies take place in the amphitheater area around the Dogwood Performance Pavilion,” McDonald said. “We put up an inflatable screen, and there is seating there for about 1,500 to 2,000 people.”

McDonald said viewers are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy evening. McDonald said the film will begin once the sun fully sets.

“I would say people can get there anywhere between seven or eight and be fine,” McDonald said. “We have people showing up at five o’clock claiming a spot, so if you want a great spot, you may want to come early, throw your chair down, go get some supper and come back.”

The After Dark Movies series is made possible through State Representative Ryan Williams. McDonald said this will be the third movie of the series with the last coming July.

“Representative Williams has allowed us to show one additional movie on July the 2nd as a part of the July Fourth weekend,” McDonald said. “So, we have another move on July 2nd, and that will be the Lion, Witch and The Wardrobe: Chronicles of Narnia movie.”

McDonald said there is plenty of space to bring your family, spread out and enjoy a movie under the stars. McDonald said concessions and bathrooms are also available.
