Lane closures on West 12th Street will begin tomorrow for utility work.
Cookeville Sewer and Water Director Ronnie Kelly said water repairs and closures will stretch west from Willow Avenue to Franklin Avenue.
“It is another TDOT repaving issue,” Kelly said. “There are some water services and sewer literals, sort of the same thing we did on Willow. We want to get those fixed and repaired and up-to-date before they do all the paving.”
Kelly said city workers will repair old water services feeding meters. Kelly said the project should be completed before TDOT begins paving West 12th Street next spring.
“It should go fairly quickly,” Kelly said. “We also work it in with anything else we have going on. If we have new meter sets that have to be done, we have line breaks where we may need to pull off. We anticipate for this to go through the fall.”
Expect closures during 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Kelly said the water and sewer department will pay for the project through its operation fund.
