Putnam County’s latest honor is a feature in “Where To Retire” magazine.
Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Visitor Development Zach Ledbetter said the Convention and Visitors Bureau participates in a retirement initiative with 22 other Tennessee counties. The magazine reached out through that group.
“They reached out and said we keep hearing about Cookeville-Putnam County and you all are doing it right and we want to know more and share Putnam County with our readership,” Ledbetter said.
Ledbetter said retirement relocations are an important part of growth. Those retirees bring life experience and a willingness to join local events. Oftentimes family will also visit, Ledbetter said.
“We do some advertising, mainly in the northeast, just because when you look at the quality of life there, cost of living is so very high there, you’ve got state income taxes in a lot of places,” Ledbetter said.
Cookeville and Putnam County will be featured in the November/December edition of Where To Retire. The magazine will be out October 10.
