Cookeville Traffic Stop Leads To Meth Arrest

A Cookeville traffic stop led to the arrest of a Sparta woman on methamphetamine charges Friday.

Police arrested 43-year-old Lisa Bristow after finding over an ounce of meth in her vehicle.

Arrest warrants state Bristow was pulled over by Cookeville Police for not stopping at a stop sign. The officer noticed Bristow was making furtive movements and asked her to step out of the vehicle.

According to warrants, Bristow refused to let the officer search the vehicle. A K9 unit was deployed and reacted to the drivers-side door of the vehicle.

The officer checked the door and recovered two small baggies containing an ounce of meth in total. Warrants also indicate that, after being read her Miranda rights, Bristow admitted to selling meth and produced a third baggie with half an ounce of meth from her bra.

Bristow was booked into the Putnam County Jail where she has since posted her $12,500 bond. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 19
