Cookeville To Hold Community Input Meeting For New Skate Park

The city of Cookeville will hold a community input meeting Tuesday night regarding the design of the town’s first skate park.

Cookeville Lesiure Service Director Rick Woods said Grindline Skateparks of Seattle Washington will be at the meeting taking recommendations from community skaters and BMX bikers.

“We will be able to meet with them and tell them what we would like to see in our skate park,” Woods said. “So this will be designed uniquely for our use. It’s not just something that we go out an purchase. They will design it based on the community they receive from our community.”

The city will be building to skate park at the old Park View swimming pool with a $400,000 state grant they received last year.

Woods said he hopes to bid out the project by February with construction starting soon after that.

“By mid to late summer, we hope to have skaters out their,” he said.

Tuesday’s meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. inside city hall.
