An 18-year-old Cookeville resident died Christmas Eve when she lost control of her vehicle and struck another vehicle on Hilham Road.
Weather played a part in the incident according to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Catie Scott of Cookeville was traveling northbound on Hilham Road when she lost control of her vehicle and turned into the path of a car driven by 47-year-old Charles Allen of Cookeville.
Scott died in the collision. Allen suffered injured. A passenger in Allen’s vehicle was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The incident happened just before 9:30pm as snow fell across the region creating icy roads. Hilham Road was closed for several hours.
