Construction crews continue to make progress on Cookeville’s new skate park.
Leisure Services Director Rick Woods said some final grading work needs to be completed before crews begin building the skating elements for the park.
“We are going to start working on the building this week,” Woods said “and our subcontractor will be here at the end of this month to start working on the skating elements for the park.”
Cookeville City Council officially approved the project bid in October with the total cost amounting to just under $850,000. A state grant requires the project to be completed by May.
Woods said he’s hopeful that the deadline will be met.
“It’s going to be tight, there’s no question about it,” Woods said. “We are a little bit behind, but I hope that we can get it done.”
The skate park will be built at the old Park View pool.
