The Cookeville Rescue Mission is offering emergency shelter for any residents in the area.
House Manager Glenn Honeycutt said the Jefferson Avenue location on the corner of Davis Road has lodging, food and clothing available.
“We have 50 residents that are currently residing here at the Cookeville Rescue Mission, and we do have plenty more beds available,” Honeycutt said. “We have currently just acquired in the last year the Johnson Supply Building, and we have that warehouse for emergency shelter, as well. Plus, the family lodge, we opened the learning center part of it.”
Honeycutt said the shelter is open throughout the night, and all are welcome regardless of economic status. If beds are full, Honeycutt said the mission has enough room to space out cots for more residents.
“It doesn’t matter if you are just facing homelessness or if you are in hard times or your power could be out,” Honeycutt said. “We treat everybody with love and the love of Christ here, so we are just extending that helping hand to anybody in need.”
Honeycutt said you do not have to stay overnight to take advantage of services. A resident can still use the facilities as a charging station or come for a warm meal.
