The Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce is seeking to make the voices of businesses in the community heard at every legislative level.
President and CEO Amy New said that’s why they’re asking for responses to the chamber’s Legislative Advocacy Survey.
“At the local level, the state level, and to the federal level that we’re representing our business community whether it’s around technological infrastructure needs, business development, education workforce development, things like that, to make sure that whatever their needs are, that we can be that voice, that advocate on all of those fronts.”
New said that they’ve already received some 144 responses. She said that two main issues responses have addressed are workforce development and transportation and infrastructure needs.
New said that after the chamber collects all of its responses, it will work with community partners and elected officials to ensure everyone is on the same page of how to best advocate for community needs.
“We want our businesses to be as successful as they possibly can,” New said. “So making sure they have the tools that they need to run their railroad as well as making sure the general public and the citizens that live here have the jobs that they need and have a community that they love to live in.”
The survey will close at the end of this month.
