The Cookeville Police Department is searching for an animal euthanasia technician community services officer.

Captain Randy Brown said the individual would be responsible with picking up trustees from the Sheriff’s Department and transporting them to the animal shelter to care for the animals and clean kennels. He said the euthanasia certification is in case of the rare event an officer must put down an animal.

Other needed certifications include the State of TN Corrections Institute, and must have completed basic training for corrections officer.

Brown said this is not a new position, and is full time.
