Cookeville Police Identify Runaway Juvenile

The Cookeville Police Department has identified the juvenile wanted for evading police and stealing a car early Monday morning.

CPD identified the suspect as 17-year-old Kedontez La Danus Woodland Murray. A warrant is currently out for Murray’s arrest, according to the department’s Facebook page.

Murray is suspected to be the third juvenile involved in a short vehicle pursuit and vehicle theft as more details emerge about the incidents.

CPD said Murray and two others were stopped around 1:25 a.m. after driving a stolen vehicle from Roane County. Two juveniles were apprehended, but Murray escaped from the scene.

Police were then notified two hours later of an attempted vehicle theft on North Willow Avenue. The suspect crashed the vehicle and fled on foot before stealing a second vehicle, a white 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser, around 4 a.m. near 1900 North Willow Avenue.

CPD said they think Murray may be on his way to the Nashville area.

Murray is described as a 5-foot-10-inch black male, weighing 175 lbs. A photo posted on CPD’s Facebook page shows Murray with short, thin dreadlocks. Murray is believed to be wearing a white t-shirt, blue shorts, and may be carrying a handgun.

Anyone with information on Murray’s location or intentions is encouraged to contact CPD at (931) 526-2125.
