The Cookeville Police are looking for a few good men and women.
Major Carl Sells said as many as five new officers may be hired in the next few weeks.
Candidates must be 21, but there’s some other qualities they’re looking for.
“Obviously, of major importance is integrity, honesty, and of course, humility, compassion, there’s just a lot of characteristics we’re looking for,” Sells said.
The Cookeville Police join a much larger group of agencies trying to hire new recruits.
“We are one of several agencies throughout the Upper Cumberland and the entire state, in actuality the entire nation, this is a problem that’s not just faced here locally, it’s a nationwide problem,” Sells said.
The Algood Police are also actively searching for officers.
