Cookeville Police Arrest Man For Alleged Child Sex Crimes

A White House Tennessee man has landed behind bars after meeting an undercover officer posing as a minor child.

Cookeville Police have charged 40-year-old Shannon Gene Murphy with solicitation of a minor for rape of a child and four counts of solicitation of a minor by electronic means.

According to a Cookeville Police Department press release, Murphy had arranged the meeting for the purpose of having sexual contact with the child. In addition, Murphy reportedly sent images of a sexually explicit nature to the undercover officer.

Cookeville Police said Murphy was currently out on bond for statutory rape by an authority figure, incest, and sexual battery by an authority figure. Those charges stemmed from an investigation in White House.

Murphy was arrested Tuesday morning at a location on South Willow Avenue.
