Cookeville will mark Memorial Day with a ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday.
County Veterans Service Officer Mark Harris said it’s taking place on the west side of the courthouse. Jefferson Avenue will be closed at that location for the event.
The event was designed to honor those who gave their life for their country.
“All gave some, some gave all, well we’re recognizing those that gave all, this is the take a moment in time, it’s great that our nation sets aside a day for us to be able to take that time, whether we go to the courthouse or we go to the cemetery, we take the time to recognize the fallen,” Harris said.
Harris said the event will feature patriotic songs and Rep. Ryan Williams as keynote speaker.
